Hello, it's December, what are you planning to do for Christmas this year? Maybe I should begin by asking, what does Christmas mean to you? To religious people, Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. They might attend special church services and functions to commenmorate the festival, where the story from the bible would be re-told in many different forms. To the general Western culture, regardless of whether people are Christians or not, Christmas has taken on a special meaning, and has become part of their culture, similar to Chinese New Year for us. During this time, people get a long holiday, from school, from work. It's mostly about families getting together, reuniting after another busy year, catching up on each other's lives. To the Western culture, Christmas is also about the exchange of Christmas cards, gifts, and lots and lots of food. Every year, people spend a lot of time and money preparing gifts for their family and friends. They also send out a lot of Christmas cards. I am always excited at reciving these! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 220.129.126.182 ※ 編輯: sw88ws 來自: 220.129.126.182 (12/02 11:16)
