I think you forget to compare the priority of "better result" and "new method"
To professor, he need a better result for the paper with any "legal" method.
Therefore, using any method wich is acceptable in general journal to produce
the result that he want. I think he will cheer up for this. If you keep tiding
specific method with better result you would be very frustrated.
