mirar, verb:
to look; to look at

You can use mirar on its own:

        ¡Mira! Un ratón.
        (Look! A mouse.)

        Mira a ver si esta ahí.
        (Look and see if he's there.)

Or you can use it with an object:

        Mira esta foto.
        (Look at this photo.)

        Mírame cuando me hablas.
        (Look at me when you're talking to me.)
