Owen could miss rest of World Cup http://tinyurl.com/zzjag (BBC) Michael Owen's World Cup is in doubt after the striker was stretchered off in the first minute of England's match against Sweden in Cologne. The Newcastle forward twisted his right knee when he landed awkwardly near the right touchline, and was replaced by Liverpool's Peter Crouch. Ice was put on the knee and it was reported that a brace was also applied. Owen is expected to have a scan on the injured knee in Cologne on Wednesday to determine the extent of the problem. He had been substituted in England's opening two World Cup games, having looked less than fully fit. Owen only returned to action a month ago after breaking his foot on 31 December playing for Newcastle.
