 I have the same issue with FreeBSD 7.2 amd64 and Adaptec 5405 controller

 I have tried the suggested fix by setting sys/dev/aac/aacvar.h
 AAC_CMD_TIMEOUT to 45 seconds and it did set the hang moment a little
 bit higher (I was able to run make -j12 buildworld twice and blogbench
 with 10 iterations), but didn't fix the problem completely - the
 controller died while running blogbench with 100 iterations.
 
 Have you managed to find the solution on your systems?
