flex(1) question

The flex(1) man page, as found on the FreeBSD Hypertext
Man Pages, says:

  The regular expressions listed above are grouped according
  to precedence, from highest precedence at the top to lowest
  at the bottom. Those grouped together have equal precedence.

I see nothing in the list that indicates any grouping of
expressions.  Am I missing something?
