If I were to do this = (and, no I'm not volunteering ;) I'd (a) get approval from portmgr@ to = forcibly remove alpha/axp support from the tree and then (b) simply = check out all the relevant ports below, break out the Danish Axe, and do = a single "byebye, Alpha" commit.
