Some people consider having the No. 1 pick in a 12-team draft a mixed blessing.

... but you also have to wait 23 looooooong slots just to add a second player
to the roster. (Seems a little unfair, eh?) Well, hath no fear or ambivalence
... because here's a great strategy for nailing your mixed-league draft when
owning the 1st and 24th picks (and so on and so forth):
Round 1, Pick 1: Motive -- Best overall player
1st option: 1B Albert Pujols, Cardinals ...

Round 2, Pick 24 overall: Motive -- Best outfielder or overall everyday player
