Cincinnati Reds pitcher Edinson Volquez has failed a test for
performance-enhancing drugs and will be suspended for 50 games, SI.com has
learned.
An announcement is expected shortly. It is believed he failed the test during
spring training. The suspension will take effect April 21.
Volquez went 4-2 with a 4.35 ERA for the Reds in 2009. He was an NL All-Star
in 2008 but has not pitched yet this season.
