Phillies placed C Carlos Ruiz on the 15-day disabled list with plantar
fasciitis in his left foot.
According to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, an MRI revealed a "partial tear," and
Ruiz is expected to miss four to six weeks. He won't be a candidate to return
when first eligible, and the injury could put his season in question. Brian
Schneider will assume the majority of his at-bats, with Erik Kratz seeing
semi-regular starts. Hector Luna was recalled to replace him on the active
roster.
