Puyol remains optimistic about the League
Defender Carles Puyol insists that the recent run of good results
show that Barca is still in the running for the league title.
"The numbers show that we can still win the League," said Puyol,
and added, "We have to take it a game at a time and see what happens".
The Spanish international would be content to continue the same
form and take seven points out of nine in the next three matches.
"If we manage good results in the next two or three games, we will
climb quite a few places in the table".
Puyol stressed the importance of hammering out a good result
against Valencia in next Saturday's Camp Nou clash.
"We're playing at home and we can't afford to fail, especially
against a direct rival for the top spot. Personally,
I rate Valencia highly. They're one of the best teams in Europe,
let alone Spain. They've good a strong squad, it's difficult to
score against them and their counterattack is lethal.
All in all, they're a hard team to beat".
He bemoaned the team's bad luck with injuries, especially in defence.
"A lot of players are out injured and it's effecting us badly".
Questioned about the possible transfer of Michael Reiziger to
Manchester City he said, "Michael's an important player,
but it's a matter for the player, the manager and the Club".
