Biography
Riquelme started in the youth teams of Argentina Juniors and
after two years there he was sufficiently prepared to move on
to one of the great clubs of Argentinean football.River Plate
and Boca Juniors showed a lot of interest in signing him and
it was finally Boca that signed him.
After achieving everything possible with Boca, the time had
arrived for Juan Roman Riquelme to make the move to European
football.He now has an excellent future ahead of himself and
a C.V. to be added to, if there is any space left.
Position
He is a different footballer with a lot of character on the pitch.
This is a man who can turn a game on its head with one magical
piece of skill. In Argentina they said he played as the enganche,
the player who links up midfield and attack, literally the harness
or as the armador, a player capable of playing telling final balls,
literally the loader. In Europe he will have to adapt to a style of
football which is more physical and at times a little less colourful.
It is said that his right foot is like a glove which caresses and kneads
the ball like dough, as he constantly puts his foot on it.
Barca have put their faith in him as they did with his great idol
Diego Armando Maradona. A strange fact is that both these footballers
have shared a similar path, playing in the same three teams from the
beginnings of their careers.Argentinos, Boca and FC Barcelona.
