Chelsea are to meet Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League for the third
year in succession, Manchester United and Celtic will clash in a battle
of Britain, while Arsenal have been drawn in a tough looking Group G.
Champions Chelsea have been paired in Group A with Barca, with Werder
Bremen and Levski Sofia making up what looks to be one of the strongest
groups on paper.
Relations between Chelsea and Barca are less than cosy following their
spats in recent years, so it should be entertaining viewing that ensues
at Stamford Bridge and Camp Nou respectively.
In Group F former Rangers striker Sir Alex Ferguson sees his Manchester
United side paired with Celtic and a potentially explosive clash with
Gordon Strachan - a player with whom he enjoyed a fiery relationship
during their time together at Old Trafford and Aberdeen.
Benfica, who United played in last season's disappointing European
campaign, make up the group along with debutants Copenhagen.
Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez will likely be content enough with his
side's draw as they face PSV Eindhoven, Bordeaux and Galatasaray in
Group C.
Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger will be less enamoured by the prospect
of trips to Porto, CSKA Moscow and Hamburg.
