Rijkaard: We Have To Stop This

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard was not a happy man after his team allowed
Espanyol to come from behind and sneak a point against them.

The 1-1 draw in Montujic sees Barca slip back to four points behind Real
Madrid, and makes it one away win out of seven away from home in La Liga.

Rijkaard, whose days are said to be numbered unless he turns things around,
admitted that the trend needs to stop.

"It is necessary to put an end to this current dynamic and pick up an away
win," he said. "We are working towards that.

"After the first half, I thought we would, but we ended up dropping two
points. However, there were positives, and we have to take something from
that.

"We dominated and had chances, though in the second half Espanyol were more
aggressive and showed that they are in great form.

"We could not keep our calm amid their harassment. We defended too deep,
while the forwards were too far forward, and we paid for it.

"With some more patience, we could have done more damage."

Of course, that Barcelona failed to put the game to bed during a rampant
first half was only their fault. Ronaldinho came on in the second half, but
could not make any impact on the game.

"He is improving, he has good attitude and he is better physically," said
Rijkaard about the Brazilian.

Finally, he also let glimpse that he was unhappy with Lionel Messi's
finishing. The Argentine had a superb first half, but was relatively quiet in
the second, something that became worse when he failed to make the most of a
couple of late chances.

"His handling of the ball is incredible and he is spectacular, but with a
little more experience, we would have won the game," concluded the Dutchman,
pointing towards the 20-year-old.
