Henry Back In Training Ahead Of El Clasico
Thierry Henry returned to full training with Barcelona on Tuesday and could
be in line to make an appearance against Real Madrid at the weekend.
The French forward has missed the Blaugrana's last five matches with a lower
back injury and has seen his place in the team taken by Samuel Eto'o.
After receiving treatment for the ailment, which doctors said he has had for
a number of years, Henry was given the green light to return to training in
the Mini Estadi.
Depsite being allowed to join in again, the former Arsenal star went through
a specific warm-up session away from the rest of the players.
He then joined in with a seris of small-sided games and proved that he has
not lost his goalscoring touch by netting five times.
Before the games began, Frank Rijkaard called the squad together in the
centre of the pitch to welcome Henry back into the fold and explain what the
training session would involve.
The 30-year-old's last appearance for Barca came in the victory over
Recreativo in Camp Nou at the end of last month before he revealed he was
suffering pin his pelvis and lower back.
Edmilson was also back in training after missing Tuesday's session with
gastroentiritis and Santiago Ezquerro was also present after recovering from
a knock.
The only two players that were absent were Lionel Messi and Oleguer Presas,
who were both working on their own specific recovery programmes.
