Goal.com analysed each players' performance and marked their display out of ten. CELTIC Artur Boruc - 7 The Polish keeper may have had to pick the ball out of his net on three occasions, but if it had not been for his assured calmness and reflexes then Celtic could have been beaten by many more. Could have done slightly better in the last goal, though. Paul Caddis (61 mins) - 5 Made one important intervention as he headed Henry's shot off the line early in the game to keep the scoreline level. Had a tough time monitoring Ronaldinho and Éric Abidal. Lee Naylor - 6 Looked to keep Messi under control and whether it was his marking or the Argentinian's slow start, but for a while he looked set to have quiet evening. The first barça goal changed all that however. Gary Caldwell - 5 Both of Celtic's central defenders marshalled their defense well enough and insured that their victors were unable to break through continuously. But quality was always going to tell. A poor pass that allowed Thierry Henry to score. Stephen McManus - 5.5 Along with Cadwell, he was forced to sit further and further back as Barça pressed in the second half and will not have been very unhappy to survived and only losing by one goal. Shunsuke Nakamura - 4.5 Picked out before the game as one of the stars to watch, but failed on all fronts to deliver. With a worldwide audience watching, he could have rised his profile with a strong performance. Paul Hartley (65 mins) - 5 Looked slightly out of his depth as he was given the task of preventing Barça's midfield from causing too many problems. Was no reflection on him directly that he was taken off in the second half. Barry Robson - 7 The Celtic newcomer made an instant as he produced a moment of magic to score with a pinpoint header and put Celtic back in front after Barça had equalised. Aiden McGeady - 7 The winger lively and caused Puyol problems in the first half, and provided some crosses. But nowhere near enough and must have been frustrated that his team opted to stay back rather than continue their attacking from the first half. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (55 mins) - 7 The Giant Dutchman did superbly well to guide himself between two defenders to nod home the opener, but was unable to do much after that as a supply line virtually dried up. Scott McDonald - 5 While he had the same problem as Vennegoor of Hesselink, McDonald did not score and did not create any problems for Valdés during the encounter. Substitutions Georgious Samaras (35 mins) - 6 The Greek stricker came on and looked determind to find a way through the Barça defense, but most of the time he just put his head down and ran head first into a group of defenders. Mark Wilson(29 mins) - 5.5 Suffered in much the same way as the rest of the Celtic midfield and actually came on at a time when Barcelona were really at the top of their game. Massimo Donati (25 mins) - 6.5 Had one long range shot that Valdés was forced to save at full stretch and that gave a sign of what he was capable of had he been able to go forward at will. FC BARCELONA Víctor Valdés - 5 The Catalan keeper did not have much to do, but he has to be hoping that the performance of the team going forward will make people forget to ask where he was for Celtic's second goal. Carles Puyol - 6.5 Had another strong game at right-back as the captain was able to push down the flanks and join in with the attack, which meant that Celtic had to watch both he and Messi on that side. Was caught out by McGeady though. Gaby Milito - 5 Was beaten in the air for both Celtic's goals. He was poorly positioned for the first goal that came from angle of the area and did not pick up the run of Robson through the middle for his header. Rafa Márquez - 6 The Mexican also had little to do, but he looked nervous with his distribution at times. Probably would have felt more comfortable if he had actually been heavily involved rather than a spectator. Éric Abidal - 7 Had a strong game all round with his runs from the back, but he could have made them much more often and really caused the Bhoys some problems down that left flank that he patrols. Touré Yaya - 8 The Ivory Coast midfielder is crucil to Barça's success as his strength and power both in the tackle and going forward allows those around him to put their technical passings skill into action. Andrés Iniesta - 7 Had a quiet games by his standards, although did well when venturing forward. His most memorable moment in the game came when he hammered a shot goalwards early on to test Boruc. Deco (66 mins) - 7 The Portuguese was in good form once again and his incisive pass for Messi's second split the Celtic defense. Is still not back to his driving best quiet yet though. Lionel Messi - 9 After taking his time to find his rhythm in the game, the Argentinian took both of his goals superbly and became a focal point of Barça when going forward. Caused Celtic continouse problems. Ronaldinho (73 mins) - 8 The Brazilian finally looked ot be enjoying himself again as he took people on, held them off and sprayed passes about. After looking disinterested for so long , it was great to see him looking vibrant again. Thierry Henry (88 mins) - 8 Barça's second goal of the evening would normally have been enough to have earned him the top mark had Messi not scored twice. Henry could have more than one himself and if he had the chance to run at Celtic more would have caused real problems. Substitutions Xavi (24 mins) - 7 Did not change things much as he tok over the same role as Deco and performed it in much the same way. Xavi produced his usual calmness on the ball and never gave up possesion. Samuel Eto'o (17 mins) - 7 Had a hand in the winning goal and just his presence unsettled Celtic, but he did not have the impact that he would have wanted as he did not test the keeper or come close to scoring. Eidur Gudjohnsen (2 mins) - - ========================================== 嗯....
