Barcelona
Valdes - 6.5: There were a few moments in the first half when he was tested,
but was up to the task, particularly with a fingertip save to deny Juanma.
Had precious little to do otherwise apart from Riga's penalty.
Zambrotta - 6: A silly hand ball handed Levante a penalty and caused a few
headaches for Barcelona, but he had a decent game apart from that, joining
the attack well too.
Puyol - 6.5: A consistent display, apart from the one moment when he let
Juanma past him to strike the post.
Milito - 5.5: Was all at sea against Riga and Juanma for 20 minutes towards
the end of the first half. It took some covering from his teammates to
prevent damage. More assured in the second half, but still affected by his
two mistakes at Celtic Park, it seems.
Sylvinho - 7.5: A typical Brazilian wing-back's display. Overlapped with
Ronaldinho, sent in crosses, and a long throw that set up Barcelona's opener.
Must start all home games.
Toure - 8.5: Picked up from just where he left off against Celtic, dominating
proceedings in the middle of the pitch and giving Xavi plenty of freedom. A
fabulous chip to Messi to set up Barcelona's third.
Xavi - 9: Masterful in midfield, particularly in the first half. Opened the
scoring on the back of a burst into the box, and helped set up Barca's second
with a delightful back-heel for Lionel Messi. Played a part in two more goals
with accurate passes from deep positions.
Iniesta - 7: A typically energetic display, but was outshone by some of his
teammates on the night. That is unusual, for he has often been Barcelona's
stand-out player this season.
Messi - 9: Another player who hit top form against Celtic and carried on from
there. A dynamite display, capped off by a cracking strike and two very
selfless assists for Eto'o.
Eto'o - 9: Had a slow first half, but burst into absolutely majestic form in
the second to score his first hat-trick of the season. Lo and behold, goals
are not a problem for Barcelona anymore!
Ronaldinho - 6.5: Not a poor evening by any stretch of the imagination, but
he is still lacking some match fitness. Should have scored in the first half
after Messi served it to him on a platter.
Substitutes
Thuram - 6.5: Was more assured tham Milito, even though there was precious
little to do.
Bojan - 7: Made instant impact coming on for Ronaldinho, and provided a very
selfless assist for Eto'o after a delightful first touch.
Giovani - NA.
Levante
Kujovic - 5.5: Was not a poor individual display as he denied Barcelona one
or two more, but there is only so many points you can get for conceding five.
Descarga - 5: Was dragged out wide repeatedly by Sylvinho's runs, and never
quite found his feet. Maybe the suspension last week caused the Levante
skipper to lose his touch. Remained tight on Ronaldinho in the second half
though.
Alvaro - 3: Was forced into action despite not being fully fit, and the
effects were there to see. Lost sight of Samuel Eto'o completely. A very
forgettable evening, and the only positive was an attempt in the Barcelona
box following a free-kick.
Serrano - 4: A touch better than Alvaro, but only because he was directly at
fault for only one of the five goals. A very poor display.
David - 3: A horrid everning against Messi. Never knew which way the
Argentine was going to go, and got skinned repeatedly.
Berson - 5: Did precious little until coming off with an injury in the 21st
minute. An early end to his misery.
Courtois - 6: Worked as hard as he possibly could given the circumstances,
but he was in no position to stand up against Barcelona's onslaught single
handedly.
Angel - 5: The former Barcelona C and B team man was way off colour upon
return to his home-town. Could not get close to Xavi, who arguably had the
game of his season.
Juanma - 7: Levante's best player, without a doubt. Kept trying to break into
the Barcelona box whenever he could, and was rampant during that 20 minute
spell when Levante equalised.
Riga - 6: Had little part to play in the game apart from sending that penalty
past Valdes.
Geijo - 5.5: Looked dangerous for 15 minutes in the first half, but barely
touched the ball in the second.
Substitutes
Javi Fuego - 3: AWOL. As simple as that. Left his team short in numbers in
midfield after coming on for Berson.
Pedro Leon - 6: Brought some sanity to the proceedings during the final 25
minutes, though Barcelona were already cruising by then.
