[新聞] Rivaldo To ‘Dinho: Barça Comes First

Former Barcelona star Rivaldo has urged his fellow countryman to honour his
contract with the Catalonian club…

In the ongoing feud between Ronaldinho and his club, Barcelona have found an
noteworthy ally in their Brazilian superstar of the past, Rivaldo. The former
FIFA and European player of the year, who now plays his football with AEK
Athens, admonished the Gaucho for taking too many liberties while still under
contract with his club.

Ronaldinho has begun to train autonomously in his homeland to prepare for the
upcoming Olympic Games and has put the Blaugrana on notice that he will leave
for Beijing with or without their consent.

Now Rivaldo has verbalised his sentiments regarding the conflict: “I don’t
know all the details of the case, but it is my contention that Barcelona is
right.

“Ronaldinho hasn’t played a match for his team since March and it seems
unfair to me that he is now beginning to train for Brazil. He must answer to
Barcelona because they are the ones who pay him.”

Yesterday, on Barcelona’s official website, Ronaldinho’s name appeared on
the list of players that are to report to training on Monday, but the
28-year-old from Porto Alegre has made it clear that he will not be in
attendance.

Rivaldo, however, insisted that Ronaldinho is not behaving professionally: “
He must put himself at the disposal of his club’s manager and return to his
best form - then, and only then, should he leave to play for his country, not
contrariwise.”

With regards to his own future, Rivaldo, who is said to be contemplating
retirement from football, said: “Everything depends on a player’s
motivations and I still have many. I want to train and play football with the
same desire that I had when I was with Barcelona and Milan. I am in love with
football.”
