Argentina's Olympic football coach has recognised that he faces a struggle to
convince Barcelona to release Lionel Messi for the tournament in China.

Sergio Batista has named the diminutive forward in his squad for the event
and expected the player to be allowed to go without any problems as he is
under 23.

BUt Barcelona insist that they do not have to allow Messi to play because
they require him for the Champions League qualifiers and the Olympics is not
a FIFA tournament.

Nevertheless, talks are ongoing and Batista hopes that the situation can be
resolved so that the forward either joins his squad or that he calls a
replacement.

"We hope to have it solved quickly so that Messi can join us, but it will not
be easy because the people at Barcelona continue to insist that he will not
be allowed to come," the trainer explained.

FIFA, the Argentinian Football Federation (AFA) and the Blaugrana are locked
in talks to resolve the issue while Messi has travelled to Scotland with the
rest of Pep Guardiola's squad for a pre-season training camp.

The AFA included the 21-year-old in their plans for the flight to Japan on
Tuesday, but he has not used them and will not appear in the friendly
encounter against the Japanese.

這篇新聞的推文普遍地開始攻擊巴薩
沒有人想到如果Messi為了這可能是自己最後一次有機會參加的賽事展現出強硬一些的態度
或至少多說點話
事情發展可能就會有所不同
雖然理解他出自於對俱樂部的信任、尊重與忠誠而將這件事的處理完全交給高層
但總覺得Messi太過置身事外了
這樣下去結果對大家都不會太好
如果最後確定無法參加奧運
也許他的反應不會像Robinho那麼直接
但一定會在心裡留下一個洞(無論阿根廷能否衛冕)
如果最後他去了北京
就現在的陣容來說，我並不覺得缺少他的巴薩會變弱多少(何況這陣容還未完成)
不知道資格賽會對上誰，不過要如何維持球隊應有的強勁就要看教練了
