Real Madrid Buy Great Players, Barcelona Make Them - Joan Laporta
The president believes the two clubs have a different way of working...
Joan Laporta has hit out at Real Madrid's latest big money signings by saying
that whilst the capital club buy their stars, Barcelona make them.
The comments come in the wake of Madrid's €68 million signing of Kaka and
also their €96 million bid for winger Cristiano Ronaldo.
Whilst the Primera runners-up have been busy in the market already, Laporta
has just returned from America and is reportedly keen to react to the
signings.
The president is looking at not only renewing Victor Valdes' contract but
also putting together possible deals for both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Franck
Ribery, according to Marca.
However, despite the fact that Barcelona look as though they will be
investing this summer, Laporta was critical of Madrid.
"We make the FIFA World Player of the Year, they buy him already a full
product. They are two models of different clubs," he said.
"They are two different structures, two different forms to understand
football and life. Our model is based on forecasts and work and that of Real
Madrid is imperialistic, with an air of high-handedness and based on
stealing."
Along with Ibrahimovic and Ribery, Barcelona have also been linked to a few
defensive signings this summer such as Bruno from Almeria and Filipe from
Deportivo La Coruna.
As yet, however, they have not made any deals and no doubt now Laporta is
back he will be hoping to change that.
