David Villa Confident Of Negotiating With Valencia Under Vicente Soriano
‘El Guaje’ is hell-bent on leaving the Mestalla, and he is optimistic that
he can discuss the issue with the club chairman…
David Villa has firmly set his sights on a move to Barcelona and looks
unlikely to change his mind as he continues to push for a way out of
Valencia.
It had been reported that the Spanish international hot-shot would force an
exit and demand to be transfer listed if Los Che did not grant him his wish.
But according to El Mundo Deportivo, the striker will now take a less
toughened approach, as he feels that he can discuss matters quietly with
back-in-charge Vicente Soriano, who regained control of the club yesterday as
the majority shareholder.
The paper believes that the two have always had a good relationship, compared
to what Villa had with the temporary president, Manuel Llorente, who had
stubbornly described the player as ‘intransferable’.
In addition, Soriano had reportedly promised ‘El Guaje’ last year that he
would facilitate a transfer if an appropriate offer came along, and El Mundo
believes that Barca’s bid for the 27-year-old, which could also include Juan
Mata, is strong enough to convince the Mestalla chairman to make good on his
word.
Soriano, however, is said to be keen on hanging on to Villa as he looks to
start recruiting some high-profile players to rebuild the squad around the
striker.
