Ahead of Barcelona's match with Valencia this weekend, Victor Valdes has
admitted that while David Villa's absence is a boost for the champions, there
are other players that can perform well for los Che.
"It's a huge loss for Valencia, but they have other players that can replace
him," Valdes told Marca.
"To play against the best strikers is good for oneself. If you are looking
from the team's perspective, you are always looking for the best thing so I
suppose that such a significant loss is positive for Barcelona.
"He is a very dangerous striker, without a doubt, but not only for me as he
has made many 'keepers suffer.
"Valencia are a very good side at the Mestalla, especially with this coach
[Unai Emery]. We have always played against Valencia as equals, both at home
and away.
"We have to be aware of their counterattacks," he added, noting the danger
that Juan Mata and David Silva pose.
The hosts will be aiming to be the first side to take a point off Barcelona
in La Primera when the two teams meet at the Mestalla on Saturday.
