Bernie Ecclestone believe Michael Schumacher shouldn't have returned to F1
for his three-year spell with Mercedes – saying he would rather have seen
the German bow out for good when he first quit the sport back in 2006.
Bernie Ecclestone認為Michael Schumacher不該為了在Mercedes的三年回歸F1,
Ecclestone說他寧願看到Shumacher在2006年就這樣永久引退.

The 43-year-old left Ferrari as a seven-time champion to head into retirement
before being persuaded to return by Mercedes in 2010; inking a three-year
deal to lead the team that was born out of Brawn GP.
這位43歲的七次世界冠軍車手在Ferrari引退後於2010年回歸,和前身是Brawn GP車隊的
Mercedes車隊簽下了為期三年的合約.

Speaking in an interview on the official F1 website, Ecclestone said he
wishes Schumacher had elected not to make his return thanks to that lack of
success, arguing that newer fans will only remember him for his results in
recent years and not for the success he enjoyed with Benetton and Ferrari.
在接受F1官網的訪問時, Ecclestone提到由於(Schumacher)一勝難求,
他希望Schumacher當初不要做下復出的決定.Ecclestone主張(在Schumacher引退後才
開始接觸F1)的新車迷只會記得Schumacher這幾年的成績,而不會記得他當年在Benetton
與Ferrari兩支車隊所享有的成就.

“I would rather he had stopped as a seven-time world champion than stopping
now,” the commercial rights holder said. “People new to the sport - people
who have joined the F1 fan fraternity just recently - will remember Michael
now, not as he was. They don't see the hero that he was but the human that
can fail. We will miss Michael, because even though he wasn't winning races
in those three years, he is still very popular.

"剛接觸F1的人-這幾年才開始成為F1同好的車迷們只會記得他現在的表現而非過去的成就.

會思念Michael(Schumacher),因為即使他在這三年沒有拿過任何一場勝利,他仍舊非常
受人歡迎"

“I think the important thing is - and this is probably difficult - to know
when you can't do what you used to do anymore and then hand it over to
somebody else. I hope that's what I can do: when I feel I can't deliver, I
will certainly say goodbye.”
"我認為最重要的事情是-而且這可能是非常困難的-知道當你在事不可為的時候交棒

Ecclestone added that Schumacher now had the kind of future ahead of him that
most could only wish for.
Ecclestone又提到在Schumacher面前有一個大多數人只能期待的某種未來.

“He doesn't have to work, he doesn't have to worry and he can do what he
wants to do,” he said. “Doesn't that sound good?”
