The awareness and release of hegemonic Masculinities？！
The Narratives & Rethinking of Male Participation in Yoga
[Abstract]
In recent years, “yoga” was becoming a “hot” and “fashion” sport,
whether like television、news、magazines and network media, besides, the yoga
courses been continually increasing, these phenomena and "Health Discourse"
adding fuel to the flames, thus allowing "yoga" constantly hot and craze,
however many male of Taiwan in this global-wide "yoga craze " absent, who
don’t favor yoga causes and hegemonic masculinity ,there is a link -
"competition sport-hegemonic masculinity (H.M..)" is a mutual effect.
“Gender logic” is not iron, and there is fluid, because there’re the
other men join the yoga craze. According to this affair, we will discover that
"gender is symbols". Being basis for the participants of research who
products "polysemy", therefore, of this study was to examine the participants
through participation in "the female sport," for yoga experience and
interpret strategy will be alternative masculinities bottom on participants’
narrative were able to awake gender consciousness-raising, and taking apart
"hegemonic masculinity."
Study the application of Hall's interpretation of the main types of people
with Parkin advanced three fundamental significance to the concept of system,
and assuming the narrative of participation in the process and content of
analyses found reflection relation between "hegemonic masculinity", was
roughly divided into three categories: re-consolidating、taking apart、
opposing/ resisting.

system. "Misogyny" is the most difficult to shake the deep-rooted factors
of "H.M."
In addition, there are alternative relationship links to H.M..
" Taking apart " hegemonic masculinity research participants, in addition
to departing from the "gender role," but also against the "gender system"
reflect found for the system itself is a harm, and are trying to change their
daily activities and practice.
The " opposing/ resisting " one who through "involved in yoga" resisted
H.M. and noted "gender system" set of rules from life and the absurdity of the
current embrace social and cultural definition of "female code."

We found that H.M. is not constant also nor homogeneous existence, but

code. From the participants sharing story found that not all participants are
being gender sensitive, some participants are re-consolidating H.M.
(un)consciously.
According to their own life experiences and narrative of the experience
related to social and cultural interaction, they hold different relationship
with "hegemonic masculinity".But we should pay attention that “misogyny” is
the most noteworthy code of “hegemonic masculinity”.
