Rusedski suffers first-round exit
Rusedski's match was delayed from Friday because of rain
Britain's Greg Rusedski went out of the Pacific Life Open in the first
round with a 6-2 6-4 defeat to Stanislas Wawrinka in Indian Wells, California.
Rusedski started slowly and was broken in the fifth game before losing
the set in quick fashion to his Swiss opponent.
The match, postponed on Friday because of rain, was delayed again for
around an hour at the end of the first set as another shower hit the area.
Rusedski was unable to raise his game and Wawrinka went on to seal
victory.
The Swiss player will face Belgian Olivier Rochus in the second round.
In other action on a rain-hit day, 12th seed James Blake of America beat
countryman Sam Querry 1-6 6-1 6-3, while three matches in progress were held
over until Sunday because of the weather.
