bc決戰點在於後面amount 跟 as many
as many 可 說數目上和原本數字相同的事物(可數)
如（ 1 ） Seven topics were discussed at as many （ = seven ） meetings
（ 七 個會 議 討 論 了 七 個 題 目 ） 。
（ 2 ） They beat us in three football games, but on as many （ = three ）
occasions they were thrashed by our team
（ 他 們 和我 們 踢 足 球 ， 勝 了 三 次)
可知這裡as many 是指前面4000 所以這裡one-quarter as many 應該是可行(
如twice as many )
至於amount(不可數)定義為amount is used to refer to quantity
that cannot be counted (an enormous amount)
雖說amount用法語文學上有例外 如金錢等 不過這裡並不適用 故不考慮
有趣的是在國外gmat論壇也有人在討論這題 當時有人指出這題gmat prep是給B
答案至於解釋他並未提及
there are fewer than one-quarter as many (as 4000 可省略)是我對原句想法
