對於答案 D 的 of what 判斷流程如下：
一、what 是什麼詞性？形容詞還是代名詞？（副詞或感嘆詞就不必考慮了）
→代名詞。因為接在 of 後面，the drug 的前面
二、是疑問代名詞，還是關係代名詞？（what 的代名詞用法只有這兩種）
→關係代名詞。因為句意，及前方的 the price 與後方子句需要。
三、what 當作關係代名詞，一般稱為「帶先行詞的關係代名詞」
最簡單的方法是將其拆開成為
what = the thing that 或
what = the person who
四、代入原文（先略去中間插入語的「 , per millgram,」）
the price of what the drug's maker charges for ...
成為
the price of the thing that drug's maker charges for ...
五、看出來多了 of the thing 了嗎？
因為 that 要當 charges 的受詞，所以應該指價格，但是按照
答案 D， that 會指到 the thing, 而 the thing 按照意思
又會指到 drug，因而使得 that 成為 drug，所以語意不合。
