答案是Ｂ：a greater proportion than
【解法】
一、這題的語意乃「此比例 (more than half) 比原本之前的任何一次選舉的比
例都高」。所以這句話在完整情況下可以寫成：
Soaring television costs accounted for more than half the spending
in the presidential campaign of 1992, which is a greater
proportion than it was in any previous election.
二、1992 之後的 which is 可以省略，而使得 a greater... 成為同位語。這
應該不用解釋吧！
三、根據文法規定， than 之後的省略情況有一條規則：
「若主要子句與從屬子句的時態不同時，不能省略動詞（或助動詞），但若
有『表示時間的字』時，就可以省略。」
例如：
It is warmer today than (it was) yesterday.
故原題中 than 之後的部分，因為有表時間的字 (in any previous
election)，故可以將 it was 省略。
四、如此便得到原題答案 (B) 的
a greater proportion than in any previous election.
