試解：
(B) 不佳，頭重腳輕可能是個原因，但更主要的是語意與時態
一、99 percent of five hundred million ... 應該是
99 percent of the five hundred million ...
因為若沒有 the，則語意表示總共物種「不只」五億種，與原意
以及一般認知有所不同，故導致語意錯誤。加上 the 配上後方
的限定關係子句，就能將這五億種物種的範圍界定。
二、that appeared on Earth 應為
that have appeared on Earth
因為用過去式的話，表示過去曾經存在過，現在已經不存在的。
而用現在完成式表示「從過去一直到現在存在過的所有五億種」
。

二、of 為介系詞片語在此當作修飾語用，表示範圍。
