把it was said遮掉之後，也不影響句子結構跟語意
同樣的插入語還有例如sb. think / sb. would(may) say/ sb. agree...等等

被動式句法"was said"不能直接接受詞。
就像我們國中最初學的文法：
主動：I eat a hamburger.
被動：A hamburger is eaten "by" me.
再者，a squirrel was said that it could 裡面it 跟 squirrel造成重複冗字
GMAT會將這樣的句子改成a squirrel was said to .....
: (C) so prevalent for a squirrel to be said to be able to
: (D) prevalent enough that it was said a squirrel could
: (E) prevalent enough for a squirrel to be said to be able to

是因為我們平常不常用，事實上多看一些國外的新聞或文章，這樣的插入並不會突兀
建議你，一天閱讀一兩篇外電新聞，
這並不會有太大負擔，還可以同時提昇語感，RC, SC跟AWA都能加強
