[CR. ] 分享實戰下的解題流程

先前，有位戰友問了我一題「卡關」的CR題。
在跟他一同討論之後，我想這個題目是可以很好地解釋考試時「技巧」使用的時機，
以及技巧之前，自己應該培養的邏輯直覺。所以在此分享。

（先說明一下，我比較注重的是講解我在實戰中真的遇到這一題的心態，
包括如果發現讀不下去/抓不到點時該怎麼調整。
真的看不懂的字，我也會很老實地說看不懂。
因為若是開始翻譯題目，那有些時候會流於馬後砲式的詳解，對實戰的幫助有限。
當然，平時練習對於題目邏輯的扎實訓練跟完整理解也很重要，
不過本篇的重點我會放在「實戰卡關如何突破」之上。
所以本題的講解會寫得有點長，請見諒）

請各位先來做做這一題：

A significant number of complex repair jobs carried out by Ace Repairs have
to be reworked under the company’s warranty.The reworked jobs are invariably
satisfactory.When initial repairs are inadequate, therefore, it is not
because the mechanics lack competence; rather, there is clearly a level of
focused concentration that complex repairs require that is elicited more
reliably by rework jobs than by first-time jobs.

The argument above assumes which of the following?

A.There is no systematic difference in membership between the group of
mechanics who do first-time jobs and the group of those who do rework jobs.

B.There is no company that successfully competes with Ace Repairs for complex
repair jobs.

C.Ace Repairs’ warranty is good on first-time jobs but does not cover
rework jobs.

D.Ace Repairs does not in any way penalize mechanics who have worked on
complex repair jobs that later had to be reworked.

E.There is no category of repair jobs in which Ace Repairs invariably
carries out first-time jobs satisfactorily.

我在做這一題的時候，心情是這樣的：
看到第一句話：A significant number of complex repair jobs carried out
by Ace Repairs have to be reworked under the company’s warranty.
沒什麼難字，理解大致上是「Ace Repairs會做保固維修」

但是第二句話開始，The reworked jobs are invariably satisfactory.
就有點難理解了。

第三句話：When initial repairs are inadequate, therefore, it is not
because the mechanics lack competence; rather, there is clearly a level
of focused concentration that complex repairs require that is elicited
more reliably by rework jobs than by first-time jobs.
相信大家（包括我）讀到這邊都亂掉了吧。尤其是那個
...that complex repairs require that is elicited..."
兩個that連在一起真難抓重點，還有那個elicited我到現在還是搞不懂是什麼意思。

這時候，相信能讀懂結論的人寥寥無幾。你已經花了30秒。接下來會怎麼做？
1. 從頭再讀一遍/再讀一遍結論
2. 直接下去看選項。

這兩個我都不會做。
因為根據經驗，通常再讀一遍又要花10-30秒，而且應該還是看不懂。
而還沒抓到破題點就直接下去看選項，新資訊通通摻在一起，絕對不知道怎麼選。

當然，相信有些人更慘，同時結合了以上的1跟2：再讀了兩遍之後還是看不懂，
跑去看選項，結果時間來到2分鐘不說，還選不出答案來。

同學當時跟我說：「我直接下去看選項，然後因為這題是假設題，
所以我選答案有no/not的（多數假設題的答案寫法）」。

這裡他用到的是技巧。可是很危險，因為五個選項都馬有no，是要怎麼選...

回到我身上，既然不重新讀懂文章也不直接下去看選項，那要幹嘛呢？
我會選擇「觀察結論」。

1. 結論雖然我還是讀不懂，
但我至少看到了結論中有rework jobs跟first-time jobs的比較。
那麼，選項至少要同時提到這兩樣東西（不管是相異/相同）才能被列為考慮。

2. 選項考量的角度是公司在看內部員工。

一般來說，CR題會有2-4個無關選項，先用破題點將無關選項刪除，
可以大大增加做題的勝率跟節省時間。

下去概覽五個選項，凡是沒有符合以上兩個破題點的，先不列為考慮。
A.There is no systematic difference in membership between the group of
 mechanics who do first-time jobs and the group of those who do rework jobs.
有提到first-time jobs 跟rework jobs的比較，不管異同，
細部內容先不回去對照，先保留。

B.There is no company that successfully competes with Ace Repairs for complex
 repair jobs.
本選項考量的角度是「公司在看外部競爭者」，
跟結論的「公司在看內部員工」的角度完全不一樣。
（這就好像是：「政府多收稅可以賺錢」的結論
不能被「老百姓被多抽稅會很窮」的選項削弱，
因為一個是政府的角度一個是老百姓的角度）

所以不列入考慮。X

C.Ace Repairs’ warranty is good on first-time jobs but does not cover rework
 jobs.
有提到first-time跟rework的異同。細部內容先不回去對照，先保留。

D.Ace Repairs does not in any way penalize mechanics who have worked
on complex repair jobs that later had to be reworked.
這裡只有提到rework，沒有提到first-time。
問題是，first-time跟rework 有可能一樣，有可能不一樣
（這就好像是結論說「台北比高雄GDP高」問解釋，選項說「台北的人口有200萬」，
但搞不好高雄也一樣？更高？選項卻沒講到。）

E.There is no category of repair jobs in which Ace Repairs invariably carries
 out first-time jobs satisfactorily.
這裡則是指提到first-time jobs，沒提到 rework jobs。
跟D選項一樣的錯誤。
所以DE都不列入考慮。

（試想若是有一題DS題：
x>y?
(1)x=5
(2)y=3
為什麼答案不能是AorB？
因為只確定x，y會亂跳，只確定y，x會亂跳。一樣的意思）

最後剩下這兩個選項：
A.There is no systematic difference in membership between the group of
mechanics who do first-time jobs and the group of those who do rework jobs.

C.Ace Repairs’ warranty is good on first-time jobs but does not cover
rework jobs.

下一步，你會怎麼做？
再回去看一次整篇文章，然後開始進入自由思考時間？

相信一開始的看文章(30-40sec）＋觀察結論（10-20 sec）
＋用破題點check選項（30-40sec），這時大概已經花了70sec-100sec了吧？

這時你就要斟酌了，依照剛剛第一次讀的經驗，
再去重讀整篇文章＋仔細帶入這兩個選項
，大概又要多花40-60sec，而且還不一定讀得懂，這一題就要花你2-2.5分鐘。
以Verbal平均每題時間105秒（75分鐘除41題）來看，你會超時約一分鐘。
超時一分鐘，就是最後少寫一題。時間內沒寫完or pace大亂的後果，
就是被嚴重扣分，這點相信大家都很清楚。

所以，該怎麼辦？
我會選擇直接選「較長的」選項A
（注意，這裡也是技巧，假設題的答案通常會敘述較長），
再1分45秒-2分鐘左右結束這一題，換下一題。

正解A。
（直到現在我還是沒有看懂題目在說啥...）

雖然很幸運地賽對，但更重要的是「沒有浪費時間」。
比起一開始就用技巧結果5選1，我到最後縮短到用技巧2選1，勝率很明顯地提高了。

這之中的差別，就是：在做題的每一刻下正確的判斷。
（該不該繼續前進/該不該猜/該不該後退重讀/該不該用技巧）

這樣的觀念是每個人獨有的，
要靠自己大量練習的同時不斷審視自己的做題步驟來修正。
（回想看看，你自己在做題的時候是方向很清楚還是只懂讀題目每一步卻迷迷糊糊？
你能夠像剛剛一樣把解題的每一個思緒，包括卡彈，都描述得那麼清楚嗎？）

所以，請各位多記錄自己做題目的每一步，然後歸納出自己的做題步調吧。
