這題主要是考but對比關係直接（direct）和間接(indirect)的概念,
我把培訓班講義部分重點先列出, 這裡在對比關係前的結構如下：
S+V+O adv.conj S+V+O, but S+V+O
若選C這裡but對比關係有兩種可能
1. many biological traits are not the products of natural
selection BUT simply random by-products
of other evolutionary developments
2. many biological traits enhance reproduction or survival
selection BUT simply random by-products
of other evolutionary developments
因為對等連接詞but對比關係可能是針對最前面的主要子句作對比
（S+V+O adv.conj S+V+O）, but （S+V+O）
也可能只是在副詞子句中的對比
S+V+O adv.conj （S+V+O）, but （S+V+O）
所以補出are只是在強調針對最前面的主要子句作對比,
讓對比關係更clear, 我想強調一點, C的文法沒有錯, 句意也合理,
只是D選項更better, 也就是句意更清楚
另外想提醒一點, 不是看到not....but....就一定是在考not A but B,
可能還要考量子句和子句的對比關係;還有我建議大家培養獨立思考能力,
不是Manhattan講的東西都一定是神物, 因為再怎麼樣Manhattan也不是出題者,
我看論壇也發現有些解法有問題,只是比較少, 任何問題都應該按照修辭
的觀念來探討, 真理不就是越辯越明嗎？
