1.Leaching是無生物或者有機污染物受到礦物溶解、吸附、合成的影響
從固體階段進到液體階段被釋放的過程，
像是受pH值、氧化還原反應、分解有機物和(微)生物活動的影響。
2.材料透過溶解而離開固體的移動叫Leaching。
3.水除去與搬運在溶解狀態中的土壤腐殖質和無生物營養物的過程。
4.在透過混合去移出欲取出物質的溶劑中抽出的方法。
簡單的例子是沸騰的水從磨碎的咖啡溶解帶出化學必需物製成飲料的經過。
另一例子是從用水當溶劑的甜菜中移出糖分。
Leaching也被用來從礦石中移除金屬。
在一個傳統的作法中，把某些碎銅礦置入一組油箱裡，
例如以硫酸作為溶劑，灌注到第一個油箱，從礦石中溶出銅，
最後溶劑溢出第一個油箱，進入第二個油箱，更多的銅被溶出
，當這個油箱溢出時，這過程在第三個油箱和其他油箱裡重複，
用化學或其他處理，銅最後從溶劑中被移除。
