Damon Stoudamire praises Zach Randolph's leadership with Grizzlies

Damon Stoudamire is the only person in Memphis who knows Zach Randolph better
than anyone outside the Grizzlies power forward's household.

太空飛鼠 Damon Stoudamire 大概是全曼菲斯除了軟豆腐家人外最了解軟豆腐的人了。

Before Stoudamire became a former Griz assistant now working under University
of Memphis basketball coach Josh Pastner, he was Randolph's teammate with the
Portland Trail Blazers.

現在在曼菲斯大學總教練下工作的的Stoudamire，在更早以前當灰熊助教前，曾經是軟豆腐
在拓荒者的隊友。

Stoudamire connected with a 19-year-old Randolph over a decade ago. And
Stoudamire has pinpointed what's different about Randolph so far this season.

他在小豆腐19歲時認識他，他指出了軟豆腐這十年來到目前的改變。

It isn't just that Randolph's knee is healthy.

"He's trying to be a leader," Stoudamire said. "It's amazing. Zach's never
tried to be a leader, man. I'm not saying it in a bad way. He's just trying to
do some things bestowed upon him. Guys took him under their wing as a youngster
and he's doing that now. He's done a great job of leading. You can tell. And he
needed to be the voice on that team."

Stoudamire praised Randolph for maturing into a player willing to do whatever
it takes beyond scoring on any given night to win. Stoudamire worked as a Griz
assistant under Lionel Hollins for 2 1/2 seasons (2009-11) before leaving to
help coach the Tigers.

他還稱讚軟豆腐變成一個為了球隊勝利，在場上肯做得分以外的任何事情。

Stoudamire still watches the Griz with great interest and analyzes every nuance.

When Randolph struggled to find his game last season after returning from
injury, Stoudamire called him out for being out of shape. When Randolph began
his 38-point, 22-rebound night Tuesday in an overtime win over Phoenix with a
spin in the lane and dunk against Markieff Morris' defense, Stoudamire shook
his head in amazement.

去年當軟豆腐傷後復出在球場上掙扎時，Stoudamire曾經叫他把他的身材給維持好，當前天
軟豆腐拿到38分22籃板，並還在Morris防守下灌籃，Stoudamire的驚訝溢於言表。

"I was saying to myself, 'Man, I can't believe Phoenix is putting Morris on
him," Stoudamire said. "And then he just took over the game. The boy is playing
good basketball. He's the main cog. If Zach doesn't play well their success
will be minimal."

"我不敢相信太陽居然敢派Morris去防他，當然他就接掌了比賽。"

The Griz own an NBA-best 13-3 record with Randolph averaging 17.7 points and
13.3 rebounds, including five offensive boards per game. He leads the league
with 14 double-doubles.

灰熊目前擁有全聯盟最好的戰績13勝3敗。軟豆腐平均17.7分，13.3籃板，包括5個進攻籃
板，並有聯盟最多的14次雙十。

According to Elias Sports Bureau, Randolph's numbers against Phoenix put him in
a class with Dwight Howard (45 points and 23 rebounds for the Magic at Golden
State last season) as the only players in the last 12 seasons to record at
least 38 points and 22 rebounds in an NBA game.

軟豆腐那天的表現已經讓他提升到跟DH一樣的層級，近12個球季以來唯二有38-22的球員。

"It's time people start giving Zach respect as one of the best players in this
league," Stoudamire said. "He can win and do the things people said he
couldn't. But they don't talk about him anymore. They dismiss him. But once
again, his numbers are the same or around the same.

I'd ask 'what are you valuing?' They're playing the best of any front line in
basketball and they're winning."

Credit those well-documented, unorthodox workouts with Tigers strength coach
Frank Matrisciano to Randolph's extraordinary physical condition. To help
maintain his mental health, Randolph continues to look to Stoudamire as a
confidant.

Zach也跟著曼菲斯大學體能教練維持他的健康，且持續跟飛鼠是很好的朋友。

"I'm telling you Zach was training with a chip on his shoulder at the Finch
Center (during the offseason)," Stoudamire said. "He was talking about 'Yeah,
Biggie. They don't think I can do it. Everybody's saying I'm falling off. But
it's OK.' When he first came here his motivation was to prove people wrong and
he still has that mindset. I like his approach. He's figured out that if I just
play then everything will take care of itself. He's back to being comfortable
in his own skin."
