探長之前，他所做的最後一個重大決定，就是以一百二十五萬米金簽下小小郭。小小
郭是第一位到美國打職棒的台灣高中畢業球員，他在 2000 年的職棒生涯處女秀中，
面對十位打者並 K 掉了其中七人。

小小郭在二A初登板時，丟出一顆 99 mph 的速球，還有八顆也催到 98 mph。他在兩局
的球中，讓六個人變成人肉電風扇，其中還有一局製造四台電風扇的難得記錄。小小郭
現在也才 22 歲，擁有極具未來性的決勝球種以及變速球。假如躲人高層認為小小郭
的身體狀況能維持下去，他們應該會考慮讓小小郭重新回到先發行列。但一旦躲人農場
持續把小小郭擺在牛棚，而小小郭在往後一、兩個月的時間仍能繼續羞辱打者的話，那
麼小小郭很可能為馬上自己在大聯盟的牛棚掙得一席。因為很少左投手有像小小郭一般
豪腕，尤其是道奇，大聯盟球員名單內只有一位健康的左投-Kelly Wunsch。
