FRIDAY'S DODGERS BEAT Kuo has shoulder inflammation JUPITER, Fla. -- Any lingering doubt about Hong-Chih Kuo beginning the season in the minor leagues was erased Friday when an MRI of his ailing left shoulder showed inflammation. Kuo, who had been trying to earn a spot as the Dodgers fifth starter, likely won't pitch again this spring. And his last two outings weren't the kind of impression he hoped to leave with Manager Grady Little. Kuo walked four and threw three wild pitches against the New York Mets in three innings of his last start and gave up three home runs in a rain-shortened outing against the Boston Red Sox a week ago. He felt discomfort in the shoulder after the outing against the Red Sox but told no one. After struggling with his command and reaching only 88 mph with his fastball against the Mets, Kuo came clean with the training staff about his pain. "It's human nature," Little said of Kuo hiding his pain for five days. "He's trying to win a job. You try to get them to be as honest as possible, but you can't read their minds." Kuo, 25, has had elbow ligament replacement surgery twice but doesn't have a history of shoulder problems. He was a long shot to make the opening day roster anyway because the Dodgers plan to keep only 11 pitchers. Kuo pitched well in five September starts last season, and the Dodgers intend for him to start every five days in triple-A until a need arises in the big league rotation. For the last several seasons Kuo pitched solely from the stretch position. This spring he experimented with a windup but shelved it before the start against the Red Sox. Little said the windup had nothing to do with Kuo's shoulder pain. ----- 天啊, 這不是每個教頭的禁忌嗎.... -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.164.73.250
