Ana Ivanovic withdrew due to injury, giving Clijsters a walk-over, and Kuznetsova lost to affable Argentine Gisela Dulko in two sets. Justine's keen on court tennis sense, and sensibility toward her health, and fitness has assured her a win over Jie Zheng 6-2 6-4, and a berth into the quarterfinals. It's not easy playing someone for the first time, nor being one of the few remaining seeds left in a tournament. This was the first career meeting between Justine and charming Jie Zheng from China, who is 164 cm, and one of the few players smaller than the Belgian. The quality of Justine may have surprised Zheng, who started out holding serve well with a very nice first serve at 79% ; but failed to make much of an impact in the first set from 3-2. Justine managed to dominate, and break Zheng constantly despite a lower percentage of serves than her opponent. A confident, and focused Justine took the first set 6-2 in 37 minutes. The second set, again was more of Justine, and her streak of games won tally was seven. Zheng did get into the match, and created some nice moments holding serve in a few very easy games. There were nice rally exchanges, which featured gutsy positive play from Zheng, that only encouraged Justine at 5-4. Justine at her first matchpoint closed out the second set 6-4.
