JJ goes on air to Help
Jermaine Jenas is supporting the ALL 2-gether Now Project funded by Capital
95.8's Help a London Child's new sport programme Free Sport For All.
The 25-year-old went on air on London's hit music radio station to endorse
the project and send his best wishes to those hoping to raise money for
Capital's Help a London Child later this month by taking part in the BUPA
Great Capital Run on July 20.
Capital's Help a London Child
Jermaine said: "This is an extremely positive project that I fully support.
Taking part in sport is a great way for people to keep fit and healthy, and
All 2-gether Now gives people with a range of disabilities the opportunity to
do just that. I was only too happy to go on air and let the people of London
know exactly what football clubs like Spurs are doing to support Capital's
Help a London Child."
ALL 2-gether Now will be delivered by the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, with
the help of Arsenal in the Community, on behalf of Pro-Active North London
and the London Sports Forum For Disabled People. The project will be
supported by the Haringey Special Schools Sports Co-ordinator Programme.
The project aims to increase the inclusion of disabled children and young
people within their curricular and extra curricular PE activities and team
sports, including football, rugby, cricket, tennis, badminton and specific
disability football including training and game opportunities for people that
use both powered and manual wheelchairs.
It will also provide general disability-awareness training, which will cover
topics regarding people of all abilities working together in a sporting
environment highlighting the inclusion issues within sport, including
communicating with disabled people.
All 2-gether Now will train staff at primary, secondary and special schools,
colleges and universities within the Pro-Active North London area (Haringey,
Enfield, Barnet and Waltham Forest) who commit to Inclusive and Active: A
Sport and Physical Activity Action Plan For Disabled People in London 2007 -
2012.
Help a London Child's Grants Manager, Richard Horsnell, added: "Everyone at
Capital 95.8's Help a London Child is really excited about our new 'Free
Sport For All' programme. In north London, we're delighted to fund the All
2-gether Now project and have the support of Jermaine. We hope the project
will create a real legacy by training school and college staff to enable the
inclusion of disabled children and young people into a variety of sports."
The project will launch in September, and the Capital HALC Free Sport For All
funding of £20,000 was raised by ICAP.
