ROMAN PAVLYUCHENKO insists he wants to stay at Tottenham.
Pavlyuchenko scored 14 goals last term but was regularly left on the bench as
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp preferred Rafael van der Vaart and Peter Crouch as
his first-choice strike pairing.
The Russian, who started 25 of the club's 53 games, hit a hot streak at the
end of the campaign and Redknapp wasted little time in claiming he wanted to
keep him at White Hart Lane.
Pavlyuchenko remains concerned about his chances of regular action but has
made it clear he has no intention of walking out before his deal expires in
2013.
He said: "There is a strong desire to pursue a career in Tottenham, with whom
I have a contract.
"A new contract will be discussed after the holidays — my agent will travel
to London to hold talks with the leaders of Tottenham."
Redknapp, 64, views Pavlyuchenko as somewhat of an enigma but the duo have
maintained a strong relationship — despite the striker being left frustrated
by his manager's decisions.
Pavlyuchenko added: "He can play one team one week and then a very different
team the next. It is hard to understand."
