US : Why did you decide to launch this product (SKT 100) for freestyle slalom
skaters ?
A.C. : During a journey to Korea with Roces, we saw there were many slalomers
in this country and we have been impressed about this sport and the amount of
people practicing. We decided when we came back to Europe to make a product
to be ready for the market if this segment happens to grow in the future.
US : What are the features of the skates ?
There are now only soft boots on the market, we decided to do hard-boot again
for freestyle slalom and ski-training. We return to a hard structure of the
shell that garantees support, safety.
US : Did you work with slalom skaters to create this skate ?
A.C. : Yes, we asked some advice from korean slalom skaters.
US : Do you plan to create a slalom demon team to represent your brand on
international competitions or events ?
A.C. : We didn't plan to do it, it depends on the market, if we sell the
skates, we will think about it later. We have to test the first feedback of
the market before.
US : Do you plan to communicate on the next slalom events and being partner
or sponsor of some events ?
A.C. : We didn't plan to communicate on slalom events neither, it will depend
on the first feedback of the market as well.
US : Thank you very much for your time.
Comments about the interview :
Positive points :
-Roces developped skates for slalom, it makes a larger choice for slalom
skaters.
-They are interested in the discipline and want to be there if the freestyle
slalom grows up.
-They push their skates using the freestyle slalom with the retailers, what
make our discipline better known and recognized.
Negative points :
-Roces want to stay passive regarding the growth of the freestyle slalom and
watch it from an external view.
-Roces don't plan to support the slalom skaters or slalom event organisation
in 2005 and they didn't plan it yet for 2006.
-They won't invest money for slalom skaters in a short or middle term.
