Jose Ze Maria is no longer a Perugia player after he penned a two-year
contract with Internazionale on Saturday.

The Nerazzurri had been tracking the player for some weeks and finally
reached an agreement last night.

Although the cost of the transfer fee has yet to be made public, it is
believed to be in the region of ￡1.5m.

"They wanted me and I wanted Inter," the 31-year-old told the club’s official
website. "After some lengthy talks, the two clubs finally reached an
understanding.

"I was hoping to arrive at such a great club and at the age of 31, this is a
now or never opportunity. I need to show people that I deserve this chance."

Will he play as a right-back or as a right-sided midfielder? "I’ll play
where the Coach tells me to," he replied.

"I’m not here to steal anyone’s place. I’ve joined this club to give an
important contribution. I have great respect and no fear."

Ze Maria, who added that he intends to fight for Lo Scudetto, is now at his
third Italian club after spells at Parma and Perugia.

"A high quality player has been added to our squad, one with technique and
experience," added President Giacinto Facchetti. "He’s played in Italy but
also at international level with Brazil.

"In the meeting with him this morning I was left impressed by his
professionalism and enthusiasm."

Boss Roberto Mancini was also delighted, especially after they yesterday
signed Sinisa Mihajlovic too.

"They are two great players who have been added to a squad which already has
important individuals," he stated.
