Former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic is coming out of retirement
to try and win a place in Croatia's squad for December's Davis Cup final.
The 34-year-old quit in 2003 because of a shoulder injury but will play
Sasa Tuksar in November to decide the fourth member of Niki Pilic's team.
"If Goran loses, he'll still be with us for the final. If Goran wins, Sasa
will also be with us," explained Pilic.
Ivanisevic added: "I'll be there as fourth player or assistant coach."
Ivanisevic led the celebrations at Split's Gripe Sports Hall on Sunday
after Ivan Ljubicic capped a superb weekend by beating Nikolay Davydenko
6-3 7-6 6-4 to give the hosts a decisive 3-1 lead over Russia.
Ljubicic has won all nine of his Davis Cup matches this year and
Ivanisevic paid tribute to the 26-year-old.
"This should be called the Ljubicic Cup not the Davis Cup," he said.
"It's unbelievable to win nine matches in a row, not easy matches either.
He's a real hero.
"For us to be in the final is great for the sport, the country, it's
unbelievable."
Croatia will travel to Bratislava to face Slovakia, who are also in the
final for the first time in their history.
