Yokohama's Matsuda Japan's latest injury blow 25 February 2005 by Reuters Japan defender Naoki Matsuda could miss next month's World Cup qualifier in Iran after aggravating a hamstring injury, his club Yokohama F-Marinos said on Friday. Matsuda, who tore his troublesome right hamstring in training, is the latest Japan international to break down after goalkeeper Yoshikatsu Kawaguchi fractured a finger this week. Japan play Iran in Tehran on March 25 and are at home to Bahrain five days later in the final round of Asian 2006 World Cup qualifiers. The Asian champions beat North Korea 2-1 in their opening Group B match earlier this month. Eight teams remain in the final round of Asian 2006 World Cup qualifiers. The top two from each four-team group automatically advance to next year's World Cup finals in Germany. Matsuda's absence from the J-League's curtain-raising Super Cup match against Tokyo Verdy on Saturday has also given Yokohama manager Takeshi Okada further selection problems. The Japanese champions already have several key players missing through injury, including South Korea striker Ahn Jung-hwan and Japan's Tatsuhiko Kubo. -- █ ███ ███ █ █ ███ ███ █ █ █ ███ ███ ▇ █▂▂ █▂▂ █ █ █▂▂ █▂█ █ █ █ █▂▂ █▂▂ █▂█ █▂▂ ▂▂█ ███ ▂▂█ █ ▌ ███ █▂▂ █▂▂ ▂▂█ ~ M i h a j l o v i c ~ -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.119.27.59
