I am not able to read chinese from computer here, but I can read from
ptt-website.
Its nice to get the news of your fantastic performance this year again, and
I really feel pety(?) that I cannot join you for the last time.
I am now in Jackson city, Missisiippi state, USA, being a foreign visiting
student in medical team here. I just finish my first week of 4-week-clerkship,
and I am assigned to thoracic internal medicine ward. The attending specialist
in my team is Dr. Meeks, he is really a nice guy, and the resident is Dr. Hall
who comes from Argentina, and I like to talk football rather than medical
knowledge with him(laughing).
To my suprise, I Do be able to catch-up more than 60% what they are talking
about. I think this might be that medical terms are similar between taiwan and
usa. I meet a interesting case here, a 22 y/o african-american who has the
diagnosis of pneumonia. I wonder that pneumonia usually happen to people who
are immunocompromised, such as elders or children. How could a 22 y/o young man
has the problem of PNEUMONIA!? The reason is he has the problem of "sickle cell
anemia", which leads to long-term hemolysis and has made his spleen unfunction
since he was 16 y/o, and that is the reason why he become immunocompromised/
Wow, sickle cell anemia....I could ony learn it from books when I was in school,
So I feel it's really a cool thing to meet this case.
