Boyband WeWe, Karen a hit with fans

ABOUT 10,000 people flocked to Ngee Ann City's Civic Plaza
last night to catch their favourite stars in The Next Wave,
MediaWorks' first anniversary concert celebration.
At 8 pm, Kit Chan kicked off the evening with two songs from
the Channel U show Cash Is King. Later, Constance Song,
Cynthia Lee, Evelyn Tan and Lina Ng sang and danced to Lady
Marmalade in three-inch heels and stripped to skimpy costumes.
But the fans saved their loudest applause for Taiwanese
boyband WeWe and Hongkong singer-actress Karen Mok.
While WeWe drew ear-splitting shrieks from the crowd, Mok,
who came on in a denim mini-dress, gave a sizzling performance.
About 60 teenage fans had gathered at the venue at 10 am
yesterday to get front-stage seats for the free concert.
They braved the blazing afternoon sun with paper fans bearing
Karen Mok's face.
Student Lin Hui Jing, 15, said: 'It's worth it for Karen Mok.
I think she's a nice and generous person.'
A second free concert tonight at 7.30 pm will feature Hongkong
actress-singer Miriam Yeung, Channel U's Celest Chong and
Hongkong boy band EO2.
