「KEANE TO PLAY FREDDIE」
Tom, was among celebs including Nicola Roberts and Russell Brand who honoured
what would have been Freddie Mercury’s 65th birthday.

Performing after a posh dinner at London’s Savoy hotel, the 32-year-old
admitted: “Of course I channelled the spirit of Freddie.”

And while he was rocking out in full throttle, Tom told me Keane are moving
more pop following their brilliant Perfect Symmetry album.


He explained: “The writing for the new album is done so we will record soon
and it’ll be out in the new year.


“It’s going to be a far more uplifting album than the last one – more pop,
short and concise songs.

“I played the Albert Hall with Queen so it was an honour they invited me
back on stage.”

Queen will collect the BMI London Awards Icon gong on October 4.

TINIE Tempah was very nearly a mentor on the new series of The X Factor. The
dapper Disc-overy nominee, 22, told me: “I was supposed to be doing The X
Factor as a mentor and I was looking forward to it, but I’m going to be on
tour in the US.

"It’s a shame but I hear Jessie J is doing it instead and of course she’ll
be amazing at it.”

BOOKIES suspended bets on Diamond Mine by King Creosote and Jon Hopkins just
hours before the awards after a flurry of late bets.
