The Sacramento Kings raced out to an early 18-4 lead over the New
Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets Friday night and breezed to an easy 91-72 win.
The Kings used a 10-0 run late in the second quarter to extend the lead to
53-33 at the half. Kevin Martin led the Kings with 17 points (2-6 FG, 12-13
FT), while Ron Artest chipped in 10 points (5-9 FG).
Artest made his TVSL debut and did not disappoint the pro Kings crowd as he
scored 12 points (5-12 FG). With the Maloof family watching courtside, Martin
led the Kings in scoring with 20 points (3-11 FG, 13-15 FT) in 27 minutes of
play. Former UNLV standout Louis Amundson poured in a double-double with 12
points (6-7 FG) and 12 rebounds in 21 minutes of action.
Marcus Fizer led the Hornets in scoring with 16 points (6-11 FG, 4-7 FT) in
16 minutes of play, while Brandon Bass pitched in 10 points (2-5 FG, 6-8 FT).
Fizer was the lone Hornet in double figures for the half, scoring 12 points
(4-6 FG, 4-5 FT).
The Kings finished the game shooting 45 percent (29-65 FG), while the Hornets
shot 42 percent (23-55 FG).
The Kings shot 52 percent (17-33 FG) in the first half, while the Hornets
shot 46 percent (11-24 FG).
The Kings battle the Toronto Raptors at 3 p.m. on Sunday, while the Hornets
take on the Denver Nuggets on Sunday at noon.
