NBA sources tell FOX 26 Sports former NBA head coach Rick Adelman has
interviewed with Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander to become the
franchise's next head coach.


League sources tell Fox 26 Adelman flew from Portland to Alexander's home in
South Hampton, New York to meet with the Rockets' owner. The sources tell FOX
26 Alexander is focusing on Adelman to become head coach of the Rockets.

Jeff Van Gundy is still currently head coach of the team. The guaranteed
portion of his contract expires June 30th. He still has one non-guaranteed
year left on his deal with both sides retaining the right to opt out. Van
Gundy has been the Rockets head coach for four years.

Adelman has been the head coach at Portland for six years, at Golden State
for two years, and at Sacramento for seven years. He took Portland to the NBA
Finals twice.

Alexander and Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey have not been available for
comment
