(Picture Note) Ricky Rubio had only one game to shine (show what he can do)
in the Copa del Rey 2009, with about 16 NBA scouts following the tournament.
Ricky Rubio is no longer the worst payed player in DKV Joventut, team that a
little over a month ago announced a raise in his salary. "La Penya (I’m
guessing the GM or team president or owner) acted unilateraly on a contract
that was (not sure of the word but I’m guessing it means something like)
unfair, Esteve Rubio said, Ricky’s father. This happened (the raise) mostly
because of Ricky’s buyout.
The intention of people around Ricky has always been to cover the buyout
number. To leave (Joventut) the player would have to pay 4,7 million (euros).
"Does it prohibit Ricky from leaving? It would be possible to leave if he was
a top-3 pick. It’s a matter of numbers" added Esteve Rubio.
The number 3 pick in the draft is guaranteed a contract for three seasons
and a salary of 10 million dollars (I’m guessing total) or 7,8 million
euros. These numbers would allow Rubio pay the buyout in his contract with
DKV Joventut.
However, money will not influence the decisión on whether to stay or go.
"It all depends on Ricky. He’s very level-headed (¿) guy. He listens to
everyone and he’ll decide later."
About a month ago, German Gonzalez, Ricky’s agent (or rep) said that in 30
days the player will decide whether to declare for this year’s draft or if
he would wait until the following year. At the moment, Esteve Rubio assures
they have not made a decisión.
另外買斷費的情報外傳是4.7M歐元，預估大約6M美元，如果在前三順位被選，Rubio
至少可以獲得總值三年約10M美元(7~8M歐元)的新秀約，這樣買斷費就有著落了。
