Avery Johnson: There is little doubt that Avery Johnson is the top name in
the coaching world. The problem with luring Avery to a new situation is that
Avery is still owed another season from Mark Cuban and the Mavericks, and
Avery has small children at home. Those close to Avery say he's interested in
talking, but that it would take the right situation for him to give up
broadcasting and the family time he's having. Someone is gonna throw some
serious money Avery's way, and the odds he's coaching next year are likely
60/40.

Flip Saunders: Flip Saunders should be back in the league next year and
depending on the team, he could be back in the playoffs next year. Flip is
not going to take a lottery-bound job, despite those being the majority of
the jobs that will be open. The smart money says he takes Washington,
although the Wizards have been keeping their pending coaching search quiet
out of respect for Ed Tapscott. If the Wizards drag their feet they could end
up looking elsewhere, but the best fit for them may be Saunders and he'll
have a number of teams looking at him.

Eddie Jordan: The best fit for Eddie Jordan may be the Sacramento Kings, but
word is they have eyes for Avery Johnson. If the Kings get caught up in talks
with Johnson, Jordan could slide elsewhere. It's hard to argue that Jordan -
who started his coaching career in Sacramento - wouldn't be the cheaper
alternative, but Jordan's history might make him a hard sell to fans. The
Kings need to make a splash so don't be surprised to see them consider a big
college name or drop a serious offer in Avery Johnson's lap and force the
issue.
